Will Management Consulting Be Disrupted By Technology?

https://www.cbinsights.com/research/disrupting-ma…

This article lays out the points I'm wondering about. The rate of change of technology is becoming so fast that whatever recommendations a consulting firm makes will be increasingly outdated within a matter of years. It seems like in the next 20-30 years much of what management consultants do in the way of analytics will be able to be done by AI. How is management consulting as a career safe from the disruption of technology?

"It seems like in the next 20-30 years much of what management consultants do in the way of analytics will be able to be done by AI."

You must think AI just sprouts from the ground like zombies or vegetables. Humans had to build it, understand it, maintain it, etc.

Also, these large companies don't change their technology as quickly as you and I change iPhones. These are massive capital investments, along with the costs of converting everything into the new system and training employees to understand it.

One consequence is that consulting that are already technology-inclined set up well to lock down some revenue streams down the road.
