W&M B-school vs UVA Econ

Hey guys, I just graduated from HS and committed to William and Mary for the fall. But I just got an opportunity to go to a satellite campus of UVA for a year and then become a guaranteed transfer to the main campus as a sophomore. My goal is to end up somewhere in IB or buyside but that’s subject to change.

I’m definitely going to be focused on getting into Mcintire if I were to go to UVA but I’d be a fool if I didn’t consider the fact that I might not get in since it’s been getting more and more competitive. So in that case would being in the business school at W&M be more of an advantage than being an Econ major at UVA in terms of job opportunities?

Appreciate the answer. I’m probably going to end up going to W&M because the business school seems pretty solid and Mcintire is a big dice roll especially considering that I’ll be a transfer.

You would be fine either way, but if you were set on UVA, I'd say one year at William & Mary then transferring to UVA gives you much more optionality and looks better on a resume than going from what I'm assuming is UVA-Wise to UVA. Transferring from W&M to UVA is ridiculously easy and have had many friends do it.

Yeah I heard that it’s pretty easy to transfer to

UVA from William and Mary. Looking online though I saw that there’s a lot of credit requirements that UVA requires(ex. non-western classes, languages, math) in order to be allowed to transfer. I don’t know if they’re mandatory if I would plan to transfer freshmen year summer.

The non-western class is equivalent to a COLL 100, both wm and UVA have a language requirement, and wm b-school and UVA McIntire have the same exact prerequisites for entry
