Women / Minority owned Private Equity firms
Been lately hearing about the performance and growth of minority / women led PE firms, but haven't heard much about culture pros/ cons etc. What are some established firms out there, reviews etc?

I have never really heard this honestly...
But there is a PE firm run by Robert F. Smith called Vista Equity Partners. I think he just passed Oprah as the richest black American.
It seems like they mostly do tech LBO's and stuff like that. Saw an interview on investor's archive with him once and he seems awesome, so I would check him out.
You can see their public stock market holdings here, looks like almost all tech: https://whalewisdom.com/filer/vista-equity-partners-iii-llc
Really never heard of this category? Yes I am very familiar with Vista - I was speaking more on the boutique side. Theres over 160+ in this category. http://www.fairviewcapital.com/application/files/5714/9369/4011/Fairvie…
My friend from school works for him in Austin; said he is the nicest / most humble guy he's ever been around.
I saw an interview with him on investor's archive and I'll find it if you want but it was very good and talked about his life story and how hard he worked.
The Q&A part he gave really, really good advice way beyond most generic answers that successful people give. Plus he has a really hot wife so yea dude pretty much has it made...
That'd be cool if you could find it. Yeah, goes without saying the dude is absolutely crushing it. I'm far, far, from being a SJW warrior (ideally the opposite), but if you're coming from an under represented group in "high finance" you'll absolutely encounter race and gender bias at least at one point in your career path. The minorities and women who push past that bullshit, don't let it deter their goals, and go on to crush it in a humble and professional manner have my utmost respect. To me, that's making the most of the American Dream, taking advantage of the opportunities ahead of you no matter what your detractors say.
You seem like an upstanding guy...but
Being nice will only get you so far. It's an inverted curve during your career.
I say: Negotiate tough. Think tough. Fight tough.
The Vistria Group was founded by Marty Nesbit - close personal friend of Barack Obama
Aileen Lee at Cowboy Ventures comes to mind
Drexel Hamilton, they hire military veterans
French buyout firm Ardian is led by a woman. US$15 billion of direct PE funds so lots of firepower.
From website: "of Ardian’s 450 employees, 39% are women"
Pharos Group was founded by a minority physician. Pretty amazing to read about the impact created on their portfolio companies: https://www.pharosfunds.com/impact.php
They invest I believe only in healthcare.
