Working at WeWork

Has anyone worked for WeWork & able to share your experience? Reviews online are mixed & quite dated with it mostly being either negative or average..

Apart from the bs Neumann got up to & the attempted IPO, why is the company hated so much? Genuinely curious lol

I don't know if anyone actually hates WeWork. Co-working is still a good idea and the spaces they create are often visually stunning.

People just scoff at WeWork because of Neumann, the cult-like atmosphere he created, and the idea that WeWork is anything other than a hip Regus. It's not a tech company. It's not a "lifestyle." It's just office space.

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah I meant from an employees perspective. It's crazy that after 2 years there's still no internal change, thought that since Neumann left, new Management might be able to take better charge. Just thinking if it's a good idea to have them on your CV, aside from the fact that they're pretty big & well known etc..

I know a few people who work at WW, both staff on the ground and management.
There is a lot of in-house marketing going on, you have to live and breathe the brand. Their equipment and training is top notch (macbook pros in London) and the culture is good if you are young/active/social, etc. Not the best place if you are more senior or a more traditional manager.

The concept is still a good one, post pandemic people will most likely adopt more remote work or remote locations.
If you are in VC you will meet lots of startups in those places.

OMG, being NYC based, I've literally must have known 20+ people who took jobs at WeWork (both junior and senior levels), and I don't think a single one still works there. This was all during the "Adam" period (go watch the Hulu documentary!).

I'd guess it is different now (I mean I hope it is), but they are now in more of a "turnaround" stage than a growth stage, but I wouldn't be shocked if they open new spaces in some markets (on very different terms with the landlord, but at the end of the day, co-working can be a great solution for otherwise hard to lease space).

So, bottom line, probably worthwhile only considering very current reviews/statements, but until they are really profitable, I'd still consider them a risky bet.

I'll echo the above.

I interviewed there in 2020 and was not impressed with the talent or compensation. On top of that, they specifically said that they were not offering any RSU's or equity form of comp. (not surprising given the events) while their salary was below-par and they were wanting everyone to be physically located in NY.

Just had my trade dispute rejected by Schwab for a loss of 35k. This single issue alone should be a gigantic red flag to anyone who trades on their platform. If they have a system error, and you do not video record your trading (they actually said this), they will not honour their fuck up. Switching everything away from them. Fuck this company.

Yeah I haven't heard of them offering RSU's / Equity comps which is too bad as that would be quite good. Not sure about salary but I doubt they would pay as high as traditional RE companies.
