Yale BA/MA in economics, worth it?

I am a soon to be sophomore at Yale University. Yale offers 2 main economics majors - Economics and Math and Economics. Also, Yale offers a BA/MA program where you can get a MA in Economics in 4 years. It is free and you graduate at the same time as you would if you just got your Bachelors.

It would be a bit more work. I can either get a MS in economics or double major. I would probably major in a math/science like Physics, Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry, Mathematics and Physics.

Which would you recommend, BA/MS or double major? Also, even if you didn't choose double major, which double major would you think would be best for investment banking. Do you think the molecular biophysics and biochemistry would be helpful (since it's one of Yale's specialties).

I'd say go for the MA, if you're up for it. Sure you can try to get better grades with just your BA, but having an MA would help you out in the future if you ever decide to pursue something other than IBD.

Just think about it -- you're a sophomore in college, who has probably never even interned in IBD. How sure are you that's what you want to do? To add to that, think about all of the people in IBD that eventually leave.

BA in Math/Econ = solid combo. I second what most guys are saying on here. Spend the time to make sure your GPA is top notch, and get more ECs under ur belt. Youll be in great shape mayne
