Is buying a briefcase gay?

I want to buy a brief case to take all my shit, computer charger etc to the office. But I’m not tryna be a try hard as a first year. What do you ladies think?

If you have to ask then yes

If you also have to ask the ladies you either never touched a woman or you are a tryhard or above

Yes... that’s like the right earring gays did in the 90s. It’s our secret code, congrats, you’ve unlocked it. Make sure you have enough storage on your phone for grindr

I've got some very choice, not very nice, words about that particular case, and anything that looks like you've got a hard case or semi-hard case in general.  Travel bags, laptop bags, briefcases (soft sided) that do double duty with the laptop are all fine.

I would argue that you are more likely to get shit (at least here in sleepy AM, where we only throw billions of OPM around on a daily basis) if you do NOT normally take your laptop home with you.  How you do it is largely up to you.  I've seen PMs of billion dollar funds with ratty old nylon stuff and interns with (pointlessly) nice bags. Personally, even though I've got a really nice $200 travel bag with the corporate logo and all sorts of nice stuff on it I use the ratty Lenovo laptop bag I got three corporate PCs ago.  Why? because it's small and fits a lot of stuff for its size.  I can even pack a couple days worth of lunches in with it, although if I'm doing a large set of frozen stuff to load up the freezer or whatnot I'll use a give-away cooler from one of our vendors like Jane St.

The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets. I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.

Having one isn't but buying one is super gay

Cool story: I've got an AFL briefcase made out of pigskin from a vendor.  It's rather useless but it's cool AF.

Out of curiosity how would this even cross your head haha. Like most people's dads probably had a briefcase of some sort growing up if they worked a white collar job and tons of senior folks still use them. How does that make them gay? Or potentially gay even? Like if they had you they're probably not gay unless you had gay parents who adopted you. How would your dad feel about you checking to see if an online forum thought buying a work accessory he used for years makes you gay?

Just asking the important questions hahaha

Yeah I was messing around but no it's not trying hard. A leather briefcase is swaggy and I used one from when I was an intern to a 3rd year analyst. When I started in PE I used a backpack my firm gave me on my first day and have used a backpack ever since. Who gives a shit about what you carry your laptop and notebooks in? Just do what's convenient and comfortable for you and stop worrying about trivial bullshit like this
