Is it true it is harder to teach a junior to write than it is to model?
Had an analyst in ER tell me that it is easier to teach their juniors to model and do equity valuation than it is to teach them how to write well for ER. Is this true?
In theory this completely depends on the junior. But in reality this is often true because people coming into ER know they have to be good at modeling, but some do not know they also need to be good writers.
Yeah. Modeling / valuation is commodity. Writing is what sells reports.
A hall of fame analyst can make paper & packaging or chemical companies sound interesting through writing and TV appearances.
