Heard John’s on Bleeker is top notch but haven’t been there.

I love Artichoke Pizza at Artichoke Pizza.

Here's my rankings/list from circa 2023 when I was living in NYC. Note: this is for traditional NY style, no flop, crispy pizza.

  1. Village Square (West Village location), order the normal round pie, not the square. Ask for it extra crispy and get hot honey on the side. Then walk a few blocks over to Pier 45 with it. My score: 9.5/10
  2. Zazzy's Pizza, corner of Greenwich and W 11th. I think this might be closed now, unfortunately. They had the best specialty slices IMO (vodka, white, etc) and amazing crust. Was a 8.5/10
  3. Pauli G's, Greenpoint, 8/10.

Overrated:

  1. Controversial, but I do not think Joe's is that great. Typically has A LOT of flop and way too much oil. However, the west village location is fun to go to after a night out with a bunch of friends, regardless of the pizza not being great.
  2. Bleecker Street Pizza. This place rides on their #1 pizza ranking from the early 00's...it might have been good 20 years ago, but presently, their pizza is trash and the place is disgusting. Also it's packed with tourists. Only acceptable if it's 2am and you're desperate.
  3. John's of Bleecker. Line is long and pizza is alright. Worth getting once, but the long wait doesn't justify the 7/10 pizza.

Prince Street is my favorite in NYC because I prefer thicker crust. John's on Bleeckers is great. If you have time to take a 2-hour train to New Haven you have Sally's and Pepe's there too. Rikos in Stamford is also one of my favorites.

Imagine being around when pizza was first invented. And having old fashioned brick oven pizzas. Mind blowing. Pizza is sooo good.

Bleecker Street Pizza is up there for Manhattan. Luigi's (PS / Sunset Park) may take the cake in BK (traditional style at least), L'Industrie in Williamsburg if you wanna stick to that part. Tony's is also great but it's kind of a mission to get to - the upside is you that Brownsville is always entertaining. If you venture into Queens I recommend Gaby's, Pizza Sam, and Rizzo's - childhood staples of mine. If you're going into Queens though, gotta get their jerk chicken - plenty of spots.
