Favorite ski resorts?
Just curious where everyone's favorite place to ski is. Personally my favorite have been Whistler, Vail, and Park City.

Breckenridge, Copper Mountain, Jackson Hole, and daytrips to Big Bear. Utah is ok. SE and NE kind of suck but Killington might be the best NE. Snowshoe is best in SE, but SE sucks. Have also snowboarded Grenada in Spain. I've wanted to go to Whistler, Lake Tahoe, Mammoth, but haven't been to these yet.
I've never been out west, but Killington is great. I got to hit it on an 18" powder day once. Skiing got ruined the day before when winds made them all say that they were going home early. Hunter is also great if you can avoid the crowds. (there are tricks) Whiteface is crap unless you go off piste, that was never my thing because I run slalom racing skis.
Killington after 8+ inches is incredible. You can actually do all the double blacks that normally are sheets of ice (and will be after the wind blows all the pow off them in 24hrs). Also the glades are a ton of fun then too. Terrain park is decent but nothing insane.
Stratton is pretty cool too and worth the trip.
These are far and away the top places I've been. For reference I've been to Vail, Breckenridge, Keystone, Beaver Creek, Steamboat, Solitude, Brighton, Snowbasin, Park City, Lake Louise, and Sunshine Village.
Alta/Snowbird is amazing, definitely seconding this.
It’s aspen and it’s not even close. Everywhere else in the us is mid. Park city is decent too

Aspen is a runway show disguised as a ski resort. No serious skiier would agree with you.

I agree Aspen is not the best but let's not pretend Aspen isn't a great mountain. Not butter milk, not snowmass, not even highlands, but ajax. It is pure skiing at its finest if you catch it with good snow. Hero's lift is world class if you actually rip
Love Lake Tahoe. Palisades and Northstar. It gets crowded though. In the northeast I like Gunstock in New Hampshire.

What are you actually interested in?
I prefer Park City or Winter Park for entirely different reasons. If I want to actually ski its Park City 10 times out of 10. If I want the "mountian vibe" the Winter Park area is hard to beat. Yes the mountian bases in that area are very overbuilt now compared to 25 years ago but the area vibe is still very nice. I think this is what is most ciritical when picking something like this. I personally have a few different lake houses in different parts of the country, this seems like overkill but each of them is in a very different environment and is used for a specific purpose. The thing is I know exactly what I want out of each property.
The other thing is you really need to know what your dark time strategy is. Do you want to visit the home a week or two per year? Does it makes sense if this is the case if you do not have a strategy to cover the holding costs? Would you be better off just renting a house for a month vs paying yearly carrying costs?
I spent 6 weeks training in Winter Park to prep for an Ironman in Boulder. Lots of swimming and cycling at altitude.

Silverton is amazing. Probably the rawest skiing you’ll do in the US. Literally nothing in town though so don’t spend more than 2-3 days there. Otherwise stay in Telluride and drive to Silverton for the day, works as long as million dollar highway is open.
Doing Big Sky this week, very excited to see it. They got like two feet over the last week.
Aspen feels like nyc / la / Miami in the mountains. It’s the only place in the us with European quality apres and vibes
If you actually want to ski, its Jackson Hole. I found Vail/Park City underwhelming. Whistler is good but gets warm.
Was in Chamonix last week, loved it.
In France I would recommend Chamonix, Val d'Isère, Tignes, la Clusaz, etc.
Courchevel/Megève: too show offy, not about ski.
Lots of nice smaller stations of course.
I have been to Courmayeur in Italy, very nice as well.
Just skied Park City, Canyons, and Deer Valley in the same trip. Still stoked. All very fun but different. Terrain and conditions were best at Canyons on Saturday given all the fresh snow but Park City side was also very fun Sunday. Deer Valley I would probably only go back with my mom or a girlfriend. It was really nice solo but on a boys trip you’re better off somewhere more rowdy. The most posh ski resort I’ve been to and very serious grooming if you like that. Pretty uncrowded, good service, high quality everything. I understand the appeal but I’d sooner go back to Park City.
On the east coast Killington is so awesome and hard to beat but I also love the vibe at Okemo. Farther south Snowshoe is better than almost anything until you get to Vermont.
In Colorado I have a lot of nostalgia for Steamboat but Breckenridge slightly edges it out. Taos NM is a sleeper hit too, a ton of fun terrain and it’s unique being so far south in the range.
I got ten days in this season, just over half on Epic and the rest used buddy passes from my friends. Got the Ikon pass to try out Jackson Hole, Alta, Snowbird, Big Sky, Solitude next season. Anyone have faves on Ikon? I skied Steamboat and Taos before they were on the pass so it’s been a long time.
Man, there really are no original ideas anymore lol. I was going to say Taos is my underrated mountain that no one talks about. The village is tiny but the mountain is great, very off people's radar and not too hard to get to.
It is pretty niche for most of the country but I grew up in Texas and it was a decently close mountain for much of the state. So if you’re there around spring break everyone there is a Texan. Fortunately I don’t think it would be very easy to build it up much more given the location.
Vail was our go-to, but they are selling more and more day passes. Getting packed. PC is always a go-to since you can stay in between there and Deer Valley and hit both over a week. It's not to far from my favorite Alta, which has great bowl skiing. Though Alta is no snowboarding, Breckenridge has both, but I think it is more snowboarder-friendly and great for that. Tahoe and Aspen have true skiers and a ton of influencers who have never skied. Lost it's nostalgia. East Coast I love Killington as many have said, and I have a spot for Sunday River and Waterville as it was a quick weekend trip for me in high school.
Next on my list is Snowshoe!
I don't think you can beat ALTA/the Bird in terms of snow quality and terrain. No apres, no grandstanding, just elite skiing. The most beautiful place I've ever been, was in the Chilean Andes skiing Valle Nevado... those views have yet to be topped. Hot take, but Mount Hood in Oregon is up there for me– there are three mountains and Skibowl has the most expansive night skiing in the U.S. Was blasted with my homies skiing there at 10pm it was great. Copper/A-basin are elite. Park City is fun but it's a hassle to get around the mountain, and while I don't really like the layout, I do really like Jupiter and McConkey's bowls. Deer Valley is a bit mid but I do like how advanced stuff is really empty, and Empire bowl is fun. Steamboat is so beautiful but I didn't get good snow when I was there– need to go back. For east coast, idk why but I prefer Sugarbush to Killington but I split my east coast skiing mostly between those and usually rip 10 days per year up there. Okemo and Stratton are fine. Top of my wish list would be Hakuba, Jackson Hole, Whistler, and Chamonix.
Haven't skied all that much but really enjoyed Kitzbühel and Crans-Montana
