3.7 vs 3.8 GPA for UMM/MM PE recruiting
Junior at a T20 with a 2026 offer at a BB (GS/MS/JPM). Realizing it’ll probably be close between ending up with a 3.7 or 3.8 by graduation.
I’m not planning on doing on-cycle or going for megafunds — more focused on UMM/MM PE after analyst stint. Just wondering if that GPA difference actually matters much for those roles, or if it’s not worth stressing so much over now that the offer’s locked in.
This sort of neurotic obsession - you will be a great fit in PE
Bank / Group / School matter way more than marginal GPA differences.
3.6-3.7+ and you’re set, IMO, with the gap / immaterial nature of GPA only widening as you improve the first three things I laid out (e.g. Harvard 3.5 in PJT RSSG would not even be an issue, IMO).
