Nose Piercing during SA?
I am doing an EB SA next summer and got a nose piercing... I'm admittedly a bit worried about how this is viewed within the IB space; particularly since I interviewed without one. I got an extremely small and dainty stud (not too noticeable from front view or afar) and intend to keep it as such. Anyone have any experience with this/insight? Am a female if that's of any help.
No. Just no.
Think about how stupid you'll look with a piercing and a suit. There's exactly one person who pulls off an odd look in AM, and that's Bill Dague, head of alternative data for Nasdaq. He owns it both from a 'we're not conventional' standpoint, and the fact that Nasdaq is a bit of a rebel in the first place.
Bill Dague what a guy.
I met him once. Lanky white guy with dreadlocks wearing a suit is definitely not usual.
He pitched us once on a product. Everybody else from Nasdaq was trying to reign him in but nobody really managed it. He's really got charisma. The FI guy who'd already built $10B funds had a bit of fun with him.
Sucks but to be safe I'd say don't risk it
Absolutely not! What is the matter with you? This is about professionalism and nose rings are trashy end of discussion, save that for the fairy-haired VCs in SF.
Great way to get dinged
Yeah even if no one says anything, it still might affect your FT conversion. Or maybe it won't make a difference, but it is a risk.
this is a good point... before I start my SA I will purchase a flat clear stud and go over it with makeup (again, my stud is very small to begin with) – if it's still noticeable, I guess I'll have to remove it altogether
This is the only acceptable nose ring that is permitted.

Very not on brand
I like the look of a small diamond stud on a female but why take a chance in the office. It is like politics at the office, there is no upside to sharing your views at the office.
Yeah, I really love the piercing and think it suits my face extremely well! But the tone of this thread seems to confirm my worries. -1 for impulsivity on my end :(
Can't you just take it off while at the office or will the hole close up?
I feel you. I love nose piercings but none of the female analysts at my BB have one so decided to not get it :(
urg admittedly disappointing not entirely surprising though
Have not seen one yet in my group, same with tattoos.
I am afraid seniors would not be happy with them
I knew a wholesaler with rather extensive tattoos. It made his work life miserable. He couldn't wear a polo or roll up his sleeves even on the hottest days of the summer.
He was a good guy and a hard worker though. I only saw the sleeve because we were goading him after work and a number of adult beverages one evening.
Chill 2Pac
a beautiful man indeed!
A (female) friend of mine from work had a more visible nose piercing (think ring, septum) and never wore it to work until the day came where she had decided to quit anyway.
On the other hand, there's a guy in our office who has relatively visible tattoos on his arms and wears a t-shirt in the office (but wears long sleeves at clients). Does not seem to impact his career much...
Trash move
thank you for the input, Garbage Chimp!
You're most welcome, OP would be a running joke showing up with a visible piercing day 1 of SA stint
Lmfao imagine a guy wearing a nose piercing in banking
