Hmm, if you can't write/answer these 2 questions...perhaps you shouldn't apply to the position. These 2 questions just seem so ez... Nevertheless, I will give you some advices to get you started:

For #1, just state exactly why you are applying to the internship. Address what you want to get out of the internship and how you are going to leverage that experience for your future endeavors.

For #2, this is a quesiton to see if you've done the research about ABN Amro. A place to start your research is the company website. Usually here you can get a good grasp of what the company is all about - the people it looks for, values it stresses, and how it's different from other players in the same industry. Talk about why the company values are in line with your personal/professional goals and values....

You're a douche, and probably an insufferable finance club nerd in real life. He just wants advice.

Not necessarily. For example, if this kid is using the internship as a summer resume-builder so that he can turn away and never look back at the end of the summer, he shouldn't just straight-up admit that.

I agree with Shady - these should be the easiest questions...maybe that's what the original poster meant? I don't believe that there's any hidden agenda to these questions, just answer honestly.

Well....to Zala's point, don't tell them if you're just using them but do say if you see the internship as building block to landing that 'dream job' in the industry. Q1 can be used as another opportuntity to sell yourself too (eg: building upon xyz skillset that you slready have etc etc)
