Have a great week, guys!
Great job guys. I'm not on here much and barely post, but wanted to show some love for NSFW. Every Sunday/Monday I'll come to find the latest episode. Keep em coming!
Guys,
Good stuff as always. I wanted to echo what you said about learning a vocational skill. Forgetting union labor and all that stuff for a minute, but I have a family friend that is a Master Finish Carpenter and learned the skill at an early age instead of going to college. Don't get me wrong, he has his MSCE licenses and a few other certifications and is bloody brilliant, but he enjoys carpentry more. As a Master Finish Carpenter, he does the finish work - the that is actually seen in the house - from start to finish (no pun intended) when the house has already been framed. He's been doing this for ~15 years and has cross-trained in a few other skills, namly as a joiner, a framer and a trim carpenter. With ~15 years of experience and both a mastery of and cross-training in all three major areas (Finish, Trim and Framing), he can do what he wants in terms of carpentry work and makes a killing.
Unfortunately, College is now like High School was. In order to get a entry level job, you need the college degree.

I owed you a banana from an earlier post, and somehow I checked into my account this morning and it had 50 credits. BONU$$$$

Atlas Shrugged has been on my to-read list for a while now, but every time I tell myself to get to it, I'm a little put off by its length--I guess I just want to make sure it's worth my time investment. I remember having to read War and Peace for class--1100 pages of very small print in 2.5 weeks; I don't know how I did it.
As far as bonuses, I don't think the industry is out of the woods yet; I'd say we're just a little past the halfway mark. Did you see all the uproar after John Paulson made his $5 billion?
I am a senior at a semi-target and truly believe that a bright high school student who then reads a years worth of core books then the wall street journal everyday for the next three years and google's the various themes...would come out smarter than 4 years of a ugrad degree (business degree). And the worst part is...seeing the jobs coming through and not getting them yet knowing your educated beyond what they require. Shitty.... Plus the student could read and explore other books that would mirror your gen ed requirements.
College is a great social experiment but at a heavy cost and nowadays you could end up back in your home town right after graduation...

Great video this week guys. I enjoy the slightly longer format. I think you could go to 15 minutes and it would be perfect. Really smooth banter with some insightful discussion.
