This Shirt Might Change Your Life

We've seen a lot of really cool stuff come out of Kickstarter, but this might be something you can use everyday. I'll let the video speak for itself, but this might handle the problem of fitted shirts being too tight and regular shirts being too baggy.

It checks a bunch of other boxes as well, and it's made right in the Garment District. Early bird pricing is $85 a shirt when they've been selling for $185, so it's a pretty smokin' deal if you like the look and feel. Here's a link to order if you like it:

There's nothing in it for me, in case you're wondering. I just think it's a cool idea and I've more than made my money back on all the Flint 'N' Tinder shit I've Kickstarted.

I know this sound stupid as shit, but why didn't he just pull out a loan? is this whole kick starter thing a way to take out money and if you fail you just give every cent back? As for the idea,it looks great, but won't he get in trouble because he kind of stole the idea?

Doubt if the tailor got a patent for it...

As far as I know, you don't give any money back if the kickstarter fails. So I guess its a low risk strategy, and he already beat his goal.

More and more, Kickstarter is a platform for pre-sales. It makes sense: you make a single prototype, shoot a well-done video, and then see if it takes off. I mentioned Flint N Tinder in the post, and I've bought a ton of shit from them, all on Kickstarter. I think Kickstarter lends itself really well to fashion, but fashion is by no means the most popular Kickstarters. That cooler guy pre-sold over a million bucks worth of coolers in less than a month. Why would you bother with a loan and paying the vig when you can just pre-sell your shit?

That pricing is a joke. Great concept, but for $185 you can get 2 or 3 really nice, well fitting shirts. Is this shirt for the yo-yo dieter?

I'm with ANT on this one--great concept at $30-50 from H&M or similar. Would never spend $185 on a no-name brand shirt with a gimmick zipper. I would probably spend $30-50 at Nordstrom Rack for a similar concept.

I really like the idea of zip fit. I think it's very important to dress professional in any industry and this leads in that direction. More importantly, I believe this shirt will eventually become more popular as the price decreases from $185 bucks.

Agreed. $185 gets an awfully nice tailored button down. Considering I can get tailored utility shirts on the interwebz for like $30, this is a hard sell at the current price. Cool idea though, I might stop by the retail outlet to see if it's absolutely indistinguishable from a button down when worn.....otherwise it's a dealbreaker.

I'm not sure I understand where he is going with this. It is very important to dress professionally which requires you to care about your clothing. If you care about your clothing, and you are fit enough to wear something like this shirt, I would suspect you've already figured out brands/tailored clothing that fits you and doesn't do what this shirt does. As far as professional, nothing about zipping up a dress shirt says professional. It's like wearing a clip on tie. If you can't tell whatsoever than maybe, but.... i'm dubious of that.

Personally I think they've developed a mass market solution and are trying to take advantage of the current trend towards higher end custom fitted men's shirts. I'd cut the price in half, at least, and push it as a great fitting shirt for less than a tailored offering and without the hassle of getting fitted, etc.

Great concept but price point is way off. I guess he is trying to make this a high-end lux brand buuuuut um, no. At least he is super attractive and was nice to look at in the video though. ;]

Hey Guys- I hope you don't feel like I am intruding on your conversation but we saw that the shirt was being discussed and thought I should chime in and offer to answer any questions you might have. Reading your comments was really useful because it shows us how people who we don't know personally may perceive our product.

That said, we know that this shirt is a totally new concept and seems a little strange (even gimmicky) at first. Almost nobody has seen anything like it before- we hadn't and Carl my partner has been making custom shirts in NYC for 32 years. We are bringing it to the market as an alternative to the traditional button down. Something different that guys can wear instead of the same shirt everyone else wears. We actually don't expect people to have a closet full of 12 of them but for people to have a few that augment what they already wear.

The shirt also happens to fit slim and athletic guys really well and if you are one of those types of guys I promise you that it will look really good on you.

But as different as it is, we also want to make sure that people know that this is not just a gimmick. The shirt is handmade in Manhattan (Garment District) and the shirting fabrics we use are from one of the best mills in Turkey. Only about half of the sewers at the factory we use are able to work on our shirts because they take an amazing amount of precision due to single needle tailoring and the seams that we sew the shirt together with.

If we made them in China or Egypt or any other place with cheaper labor and goods (like H&M does), we could sell the shirt for about a quarter of the price all day but that's not the route we chose.

More about the pricing: The retail price is $185 at the moment but we launched on Kickstarter last week and you can grab a shirt for $95 plus shipping which is a sick deal for this level quality of shirt. I strongly encourage anyone who likes a fitted shirt and is interested in trying something different to grab one and give it a shot.
It is a great shirt to wear for going out and has gotten me into countless conversations with people once I show them the zipper.

Like I said, I hope you don't think I'm intruding. Thank you to the Edmundo who posted in the first place. To the person who said I was good looking....you're not so bad yourself ;).
