Blackstone Insurance Solutions Superday

I have a superday with Blackstone Insurance Solutions coming up, not really sure how to best prepare, would really appreciate some advice. What technicals will they ask me and how can I best prepare for them? Also would appreciate any insight regarding the exit ops of the group.

A key component of insurance asset management is understanding the regulatory capital framework and how it impacts return on capital. Unlike an endowment/pension fund/family office, an insurance company has to post higher capital charges for fund investments (schedule BA assets) than something that is perceived to be safer like an investment grade bond (NAIC 1/2 schedule D asset). The nuances of insurance regulatory capital treatment are complex and evolving, but understanding the basic framework will help differentiate you.

Additionally, I would recommend understanding BX’s history in the space and jn particular its strategic relationships with Fidelity & Guarantee and Resolution. Look through F&G’s investor presentation and understand why certain BX products (CLOs/Real Estate) are used heavily in F&G’s portfolio.

Finally, learn about the competitive and growth landscape of the use alternatives in insurance portfolios. Pay particular attention to APO (Athene) and KKR (Global Atlantic).
