Clarification of GPA

Hi,

I recently accepted a summer offer. I had listed my GPA as a 3.95 on my CV, but this was my law school GPA (i.e, A+ == 4.3 and takes into account courses at other schools). I was originally planning on law, so it was how I thought of my GPA. My current GPA as reported by my school is a 3.91, though between family emergencies and a intense and technical recruiting cycle, this semester turned out to be an extreme disappointment for me and that reported GPA may drop to 3.7x.

I'm likely going to have to explain the drop on my GPA at some point during my background check. Would it be better to explain everything in the future, or explain the current discrepancy now and the subpar semester later?

Am I making too big a deal out of this? The rest of my resume isn't really super finance related, so I felt as if a significant portion of the candidacy was based on my off of my excellent academic standing in a difficult major at a school known for STEM and rigour.

This has been stressing the living hell out of me. I think very highly of the team that I met (it was by far and away the favorite team that I interviewed with), so the thought of the team having to think about and deal with these discrepancies (law gpa + poor semester performance) honestly makes me want to rescind my acceptance.
