Fixed Income Performance / Risk Analyst Exits?

Long story short: transitioning into a career in Finance after 3 years at a large software firm (2 years intern 1 year full time). I got an offer for a role as a Performance / Risk Analyst for a Fixed Income team at a local investment firm. I'm not incredibly familiar with the industry so before I accept I want to know what my options are for exits. Ideally I'd like to break into Private Equity or Investment Banking but I have 0 applicable experience (just a double majored in Finance / IS for undergrad) and didn't come from a target school. Is that exit possible? If not, what are some other opportunities?
