GSAM Base Salary?
I just wanna get to the bottom of this once and for all
To Start:
I am an incoming GSAM SA for 2023 NYC, my base is 85k,
my friends with SA offers in multi asset (public investing), private investing, and non-investing roles all have an 85 base. (All NYC)
I read this article recently claiming GS would bump some roles in AM, GIR, S&T to 110 base:
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-08-2…
Are they just giving SAs 85 base, but offering 110 for full time AN1????
I hear conflicting things, and I literally have a friend who's an incoming SA 2023 NYC for MS wealth management with a base of 105k, Is this some kind of GS discount or something?
Doesn't answer your question exactly, but I work for GS front office in one of the groups mentioned in that article, and my base is nowhere near the numbers thrown out there. Not NYC, so could be a useless data point. But yeah. Not even close.
Thanks, any info is always appreciated, is your location comparable to NYC though?
I'm in one of Goldman's "tier 2" offices, (SLC, West Palm Beach, DC, Chicago, Dallas etc). So a fair bit cheaper than NYC/SF, but not exactly Cheyenne WY either. And yeah, I'm a first year associate and my base is less than the AN1 figures quoted there. The GS COL adjustment is very real.
GSAM has so many different groups so I bet it varies across the board significantly. You’d have to be more specific, especially since things like MBD are housed there along side other random groups that I’m sure don’t pay the same.
Yea I have some teams in mind, and I don’t even know where MBD sits among the subdivisions now.
If anyone is getting 110 it’s the most front office roles, If I’m not mistaken though, even people in IBD get 85 for SA, and then 110 for AN1?
Teams I was wondering about regarding potential access to the 110 base would be (in no particular order):
Alternative Capital Markets and Strategy
Multi-Asset investing(?)
All the AIMS stuff
PE investment team
Americas Client Business
all GS incoming (FO) summer interns in NYC are on the old $85k base
When you guys convert, base will be $110k - for everyone in FO (AM, S&T, ER, WM, etc etc)
same for London (£47k summer intern, £70k for grads)
hope this clears things up
Hey thanks so much, confirmed my suspicions, I hate to ask but how do you know? Not knocking your credibility or anything
Can confirm this is correct salary for London.
Thanks!
Did anyone hear about the comp review and potential salary bump coming up in September for SA23?
No, but big if true
I know this is out of date. But I am an incoming FT analyst in one of the front-office AIMS roles within GSAM and my base is $85k.
Could you clarify why you said your info could be outdated? Are you NYC/tier-1/HCOL city? Thx
