I'm new to being an allocator

I recently took on a director role at a medium-sized single family office.  I'm a PE/REPE guy by background, so now have to learn about asset allocation and portfolio construction. I'm looking for advice, reading materials, and to exchange ideas with other allocators in WSO

Congrats on the new role! It's always exciting to dive into new waters. As a director at a medium-sized single family office, you'll be juggling a lot of balls, but don't worry, you've got this!

For starters, I'd recommend checking out the WSO Academy. It's packed with courses that can help you get up to speed on asset allocation and portfolio construction. You might find the Investment Banking Prep particularly useful as it covers financial statement modeling, DCF, M&A, LBO, Comps and Excel Modeling.

Also, don't forget to leverage the WSO community. There are plenty of threads where allocators exchange ideas and advice. You can learn a lot from their experiences and insights.

As for reading materials, the WSO Editorial Board regularly publishes articles on a wide range of topics, including asset allocation and portfolio construction. You might find some valuable nuggets of wisdom there.

Remember, every expert was once a beginner. Don't hesitate to ask questions and seek guidance. The WSO community is here to support you. Good luck on your journey!
