Why so many interviews!? JPM Full-Time PB Analyst (Advice please)

Hi Guys:

Here's my brief story:

As of today, I've had a total of 12 interviews—two with HR and ten with actual team members, including analysts and senior level employees—in the past two months.

Two weeks ago I received a follow-up invitation (I had already come in for an on-site interview at their local office) to come in for a final interview. In the email, HR mentioned that this would be the "final" interview in the process, saying that, "because I had not met the entire team in the previous interview, they'd like me to come in again and interview with the remaining members of the team." I accepted the invitation, met with the team, and, once again, followed-up with a thank you note (which they kindly replied to) shortly thereafter.

After two weeks of waiting for a response, HR calls me today and leaves me a voice mail (yes, I missed the call), saying that the team would like me to come in again for "additional interviews."

My question is as follows:

Is this normal?! What else can we possibly talk about after I've met each and every single person in the team and discussed everything from personal life to academia and professional work experience and the markets—they even bombarded me with technical questions and what-if scenarios.

We did not, however, ever discuss salary and other benefit related questions. Could this be the reason as to why they'd like me to come in again? Could it be that they'd like to give me an offer in person?

I apologize for asking so many questions, but this is really frustrating -.-

They'll find other people for you to meet. For example, if you were interviewing for an IBD coverage group, you may also interview with Lev Fin. You're not working for them, but you will be working WITH them.

So for PWM, maybe some traders, a sales guy or two, structures

Most likely neck and neck with another candidate is my bet

They wont discuss salary/benefits until after they offer you the job I believe. You're in good shape man, don't worry. You've made it this far so you're doing it all right, just go in and give them your time and hopefully this will be the last time you need to interview.

I definitely agree. I was in the exact same situation a while back. I went through the normal interview process and then I was called in for another interview. I later found out from a friend that it was between me and one other guy.

this is a very strange occurrence. I'm an incoming PB Analyst and I found out last thanksgiving. we've been receiving emails about pre employment checks, drug screenings, etc.. since February. I don't see what could be taking so long for you. also, analyst compensation is non-negotiable, from what I understand. depends on which market you're working in... so I don't think that could be the case. best of luck though. if they keep asking you back, you have to be doing something right! PM me if you have any more questions
