Hi All,
Currently working in Accenture's MC practice. I am at the Sr. Analyst level, and have just been told I am going to be promoted to consultant by mid-year. I also have been given an offer by my client to their team fulltime, at a respected full service bank out of NYC.
The position would be in the bank's finance and risk organization, at the Associate level, and although it is technically labeled as being part of their corporate finance division, is way more Corporate Strategy in nature.
I enjoy consulting, and what I am currently doing, but I am considering this 'corporate finance' role because the offer is much higher then my current salary. Even after I make consultant, the salary is still higher by about $15-20k. Is taking this short term salary increase a dumb move?
Does anyone know what kind of exit opportunities are available in corporate finance/Strategy roles at big banks? Can you move up quickly?
Any help or advisory or thoughts on this decision would be extremely appreciated.

Need some help on the biggest career decision I've had to make thus far......Consulting vs. Industry.
I'm currently working in MC at Accenture on a great project at a large FS client. The project involves a small team building out the strategy (Op. Model, Process Improvement, PMO Structure, etc.) behind a very large initiative within the bank's Finance and Risk organization. The work is meaningful, and has a lot of great exposure to very senior stakeholders.
My client, called me into their office on Friday and after stating that they already checked to make sure it would not be violating any non-compete policies/laws, that they would like to give me an offer to join their bank's Finance and Risk Strategy' team fulltime.
II would have declined the offer if it wasn't for a 60% salary bump from what I am making today - which is absurd. Even if i was promoted at Accenture, which I expect to be by Dec 2015, I'd still be making about $20k less then I would in this role. Bonus and benefits are comparable.
Does anyone have any experience in a 'Corporate Strategy' type role within a non-consulting firm? Can it lead back to consulting in the future? If so, with ease? I of course would like to take the role because of the money, but I have a fear of going from a front-office, profit center role at Accenture to a middle office, cost center role at a BB.
Any help, past experience, advice, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

Accenture has the upper hand in terms of location (the Corp Strat position is in a small city halfway across the country) and compensation.
However, my primary concern is career development. I have limited experience with consulting and would love it if you guys could shed some light on which job you think will be better in terms of interesting work and marketability of experience.

Pros: -Rapidly growing company with innovative culture and very intriguing business model -Data-driven organization -Work/life balance -Very smart coworkers Cons: -Very quant heavy, lots of analysts with engineering/math backgrounds -Only exposed to 1 company/industry -Functional specialization (sales, web, or marketing), not broad corporate strategy.
I want to get my MBA and continue in consulting/corporate strategy. Which job opportunity do you feel like would align best with this?
Go with Accenture. You will probably end up leaving MC at some point to go to a corporate role anyway. Take Accenture 100% - you will learn to think, have a variety of experiences in different industries and become very valuable to both the MC firm and your clients who may become a future employer
