Are the cases in Case-in-Point realistic?
I've been through many of the cases in Case-in-Point and the cases seem a bit different than the ones in www.consultingcase101.com, which are apparently cases for previous interviews.
Anyone else feels this way? Or am I just over analyzing the situation....
yes - they are "realistic"
I found the interviews much more interviewer-led than CIP lets you think. The problems in CIP are very realistic, but the solutions are not structured enough in my opinion. For me the system he proposes is not gonna cut it for MBB. Use cases from Kellogg and Wharton casebooks and frameworks from Victor Cheng Wharton casebook 2010, that's what I did :)
Yeah from what I hear, most interviews these days are interviewer led. I've never heard of anyone getting an interviewee led one, interestingly.
I was under the impression that only McKinsey was interviewer-led, whereas all the other big firms were interviewee led. No?
All my interviews at Bain were interviewer-led. However, that's in Europe, so it might be different here!?
Most of my interviews with Bain, BCG, and LEK were interviewee led. Yes, the interviewer still asked questions, but you set the direction that the interview went. Deloitte S&O was much more interviewer led, as was McKinsey and ATK PAS.
This is all in North America
