at kearney or LEK?
Hi Guys,
Got an offer from LEK Boston and AT Kearney Procurement and Analytics in NY. Need help deciding. This is difficult because
1) I want travel to client sites (Mon-Thurs) and international case experience (ATK offers but LEK doesn't really)
2) I really enjoy strategy work a lot, although I'm willing to learn other things (LEK offers but ATK doesn't)
If pay is not a consideration and I'm planning b-school afterwards, what do you guys think?
L.E.K
Based on your concerns/criteria, I'd take LEK:
1) LEK may have less travel projects, but don't they have an international transfer program that is open to you after 1(?) year? I'm pretty sure quite a high number of people participate in this at LEK.
2) If you know you really enjoy strategy work, LEK is better.
LEK probably has better b-school placements.
Try talking to the people at each of the firms before making your decision.
Thanks. @Solidarity, why LEK? @Proboscis: Yes, they do have an international transfer program. But they still lack the day to day travel to client sites.
I got a really good vibe talking to consultants from the Boston office (good # if alums from my school are working there). On top of that, they are definitely focused on long-term strategy and have great b-school placement.
Shoot me a PM if you have specific q's about the Boston office
Both guys I know that worked at AT ended up at HBS, if that matters.
LEK will travel, and I bet after a year on the road, you'll be glad to have local opportunities. If the people are the same to you, and you're more interested in strategy than supply chain, take LEK.
ATK
@yougotit. Why atk?
Thanks guys for the help. My biggest problem with LEK is that they don't travel to client sites and are instead sitting at their desk until 10/11 everyday. Is that not missing out on a lot? I'm the type of person who likes to travel and change offices. I get bored if my office doesn't change and especially if I have to sit there for >12 hours a day. What do for guys think?
Confirm with LEK and see if that is indeed how they operate.
It sounds like you are already leaning towards ATK.
