BCG Second Chance Interview

Interviewed several months back as an experienced hire two years out of undergrad. I made it to the final round and was told I was ranked very but my performance one case was holding me back. Was encouraged to try again in six months. I really enjoyed all my interviews and have a great feeling about BCG and am grateful to have made it so far in the process. Can anyone speak to the likelihood/prospects of being successful a second time? It seems many who make it very far as summer associates are successful when applying for full-time but my situation is a bit different. They gave me very specific feedback and I am still working both with a partner and other case resources to improve.

Should I re-establish contact with my recruiters and first/second round interviewers or is it best to wait until their specified time to reach out?

Would appreciate any helpful insight.

BCG has a waiting period of 1 year. McKinsey has 2.

That's not necessarily true. I know of people that have been allowed to apply and interview again after ~1 year at both firms.
