Career Path Confusions

2 YOE in consulting, primarily dealing with change management, tech implementation, & project management.

Ultimate career goal is to break into PE. Apparently IB > PE has the best chances. No professional financial related experience but I have some knowledge in terms of financial modeling from occasional videos & tutorials I've been watching, plus I was a finance major to start & I retained some information. This has always been an area I'm interested in but due to graduating a year early before having a clearly thought out career path, I kinda screwed myself over.

What are all the types of jobs should I be looking for to pivot correctly? I've been networking but there's been lots of ghosting. The few that did speak with me encouraged me to get a couple years of financial related experience first. I've seen people pivot directly from consulting into PE/IB without professional financial experience, and I know it's probably due to having bigger names on their resume like MBB or B4
