My initial thoughts are stay away from Oil not cause I think its bad but cause some people have weird stigmas against oil. I'm not an expert on the subject but I personally would go pharma cause it kinda shows that "you want to help" compared to going into an industry that has recently been called out for being "'bad". But it also depends what you're doing at those places. For example, if you are part of the strategic team that is helping Chevron shift from oil to green energy than I'd say do which one makes you happier. Either of them are huge companies and a good position there will set you up for a solid exit. (I'm not sure about FAANG or MBB exits but they are both good companies where you could easily find another solid job.

I would argue that pharma is the same as oil in terms of public perception, if not worse. It's one of the most hated industries in the US https://www.businessinsider.com/big-pharmacy-government-are-americas-to…

Agree with second part though, the role matters in terms of exits. Something like corporate strategy sets you up better for MBB than being a research technician

the role in oil is more about analytics of inside in oilfield. Like calculation of the budgeting for food, rent. How many new workers came to the oilfield.

the role in pharma is more about market analytics
