College Sophomore interning in MBB - What to do next?

Hi everyone,

As the title suggests, I'm a sophomore at a target school who will be interning at an MBB firm this summer and I was looking for some external opinions about how to approach the rest of college, etc.

For some context, I will be interning in my home city (one of the larger offices but not New York or Boston) which really appealed to me both short and long-term; I get to spend time with my parents/grandparents, and potentially live with my long-term partner. I've mostly been involved in the IB space, but I got through the MBB process and accepted the offer for the summer after my sophomore year, which means I could relatively easily work at the firm full-time. I'm also currently in an early insight program at a BB IB firm, which (to my knowledge) gives me a super day at the firm in a few weeks and the potential to work there. However, every day that passes, I become less enamored with IB and more sure that I would rather do MBB; I say this not having worked either job, but the protected weekends/fewer hours, potential travel vs. sedentary desk work, similar pay, shorter project timeline (deal vs case), and more control over what I work on sounds better than IB. Afterward, I think that I do want to make my way over to the buy side, particularly in HF, and do plan to try and recruit and see if I can go straight there after I graduate rather than after a few years in MBB and then in PE. I say that because the main reason I am interested in Business/Finance/etc. is from managing a small investment portfolio since high school, and I like the research aspect, better pay, etc. Also, I want to do a double major in Economics and Applied Math, but this semester was the worst in terms of my grades as I began to take harder Applied Math classes while recruiting/interviewing. I worry about my GPA/stress levels if I continue to do both majors and recruit for a new job and group placement (IB), particularly if I already have a path that bypasses all that and gets me to the same place.

I hope all of that was not super confusing but in summary, it leaves me with a couple of options from my perspective:

1. Stay with MBB and work there post-grad, potentially moving to buy-side or business school after a few years, whatever I decide later down the line
2. Interview and (potentially) accept an IB offer, hopefully at an EB but also potentially at the BB firm, and maybe pursue a similar path to option 1
3. Heavily recruit for HF and try to skip the few years in MBB/IB/PE post-grad

I would appreciate any insight that anyone may have, thank you!
