Consulting major crossroad
I'm a rising junior at a non-target school majoring in Finance and targeting MBB/Tier 2 strategy consulting. I'm transferring next spring, but because most business schools only admit transfers in the fall, I'll likely spend my first semester in the College of Arts & Sciences. I'll be eligible to recruit for 2028 summer internships after that first semester.
I'm trying to decide on a major for that semester. Economics seems like the obvious choice for consulting, but since I'll only have one semester of grades before recruiting, maximizing my GPA feels especially important. I'm considering Psychology because I think I could earn a higher GPA, but I'm worried it could hurt my chances.
How much does a Psychology major matter for MBB recruiting if I'm coming from a non-target? Would you choose Psychology with a higher GPA, or Economics even if it meant a lower GPA?
