Deloitte Consulting Advice

Currently in my sophomore year and looking to SA with Deloitte summer of my junior year.

Anyone have any experience with what Deloitte stresses for their SAs?

GPA reqs? Kinds of internships/employment? Case study/brain teaser interview weight?

Also how many rounds of interviews is it usually and what advice do you have for getting offered a full-time position if not accepted into the SA program?

I currently have a 3.8 in an undergrad program ranked Top 5 in the country with lots of internship experience and know a few consultants - trying to figure out where I stand.

A 3.8 from a top school, as long as your major is relevant, should be enough to get an interview. From my experience, once you actually get an interview most of the weight is on your case studies. My first interview was half behavioral and half case study. The last round was case studies with a little market sizing mixed in. If you already know a few consultants networking with them will help ensure that you get an interview and help towards getting an offer.

Like other firms, Deloitte is much more selective in their internship recruiting then they are in their full time recruiting. Networking for Deloitte is pretty key, that plus a 3.8 will get you in the interview room, but you still have to earn it.

Are you familiar with the Externship process and general full-time hiring process and how competitive that is?

ProboscisJust curious - what about Deloitte Consulting interests you compared to other firms?

I really find the S&O sector interesting as I have interned for the U.N. and other governmental agencies - so essentially I'm working government hours but getting a private sector salary.

Also they have a really good alumni network and as I am contemplating law school in the future, I think that can be helpful.

I also don't think I stand a chance at McK

If you want to focus on public sector clients while at Deloitte (or with any consulting firm), make sure you choose the office you apply to wisely.

You should really look at Booz in DC then too.
If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses - Henry Ford

Boils down to office choice from what I hear. I know people going to and currently DC working in the federal practice, and people in Boston/NY who have been told they are working with commercial clients, albeit a few with significant national interests (eg. defence).

Definitely on the higher side. I would think on average post undergrad, Big 4 salaries are lower across the board compared to top tier consulting firms (Booz, McK, BCG, Bain)

Still I Rise

Booz and Deloitte can both get you through the TS process but I think, not positive on this, that Booz is a lot more willing to do it for more junior guys.
