Deloitte Consulting project assignment / training

Can I do something to increase my chances of getting a sexy first role at Deloitte? Our projects haven't been assigned yet, and they might be after our orientation. So I think there will be some time for exposure / showing off of skills.

Coming in as a new hire, it's pretty much luck of the draw. The only way to get on better projects is to know the right people and impress them, so use any extra time to network. You can also always reach out to your counselor and HR to express interest in a certain company or industry. Ask people questions and keep your ears open to figure out which projects are really the good ones.

Shouldn't be an issue. Kick ass on your first case, make your preferences known and reach out to the more finance focused partners. Once you have a good internal reputation, getting staffed on what you wants becomes pretty easy (providing timing works out).

Thank you! :)

Just out of curiosity, and please forgive my ignorance coming from pre-med background, what are the different types of finance-related cases that consulting companies deal with and what would be the best way for me to prepare to be able to kick ass on my first case??
