Exit opps will be better if you can parlay that experience after a few years into joining value creation where PE Ops teams might be a potential exit opp.

Exit opps for that role without focusing are likely to be finance, internal consulting at a F100, internal integration-type roles, or corporate development. If you become an exceptionally strong PMO it will also open the doors for other types of PMO jobs, not strictly limited to M&A.
