EY GPS Advisory vs. Deloitte Forensic Analytics

Hello all,

I am a junior at a top 25ish college studying business and statistics with a 3.8+ GPA. I have recently received offers from EY and Deloitte for internships next summer. At EY I would be doing Performance Improvement in their GPS Advisory branch. At Deloitte I would be doing Forensic Analytics in their Risk & Financial Advisory group. I wanted to get different opinions on these two options.

As far as I can tell (please correct me if I'm wrong), here are the pros and cons I have gathered for each:

The EY position seems to be more of a client-facing role. In addition, the people who I interviewed with were extremely friendly. However, government consulting carries less cachet than commercial and it might be difficult to make the switch from government to commercial.

The Deloitte position seems to be more analytical, which is consistent with my stats background, and I will likely pick up more hard skills along the way. The Deloitte name is the most prestigious out of the Big 4. On the flip side though, the RFA group at Deloitte carries less cachet than their consulting arm. Forensics also seems extremely specific, and I might not get the exposure to different industries which I would ideally like to receive.

I am interested in a careers in management consulting or data science. What do you all think would provide me with the best opportunities in the future? I am not opposed to recruiting again next Fall for full-time positions if necessary. Which position would look better to other employers if that is the case?

Thanks!
