Frameworks for comparing different types of businesses within an industry

All,

As per title - looking for frameworks to assess different types of businesses (e.g. staffing / IT + tech / consumables) within an industry vertical (healthcare). Can anyone suggest any that would be suitable?  Currently assessing on:

  1. Average margins
  2. Prevelence of recurring revenues
  3. Liklihood of network effects.
  4. [others?]

Ultimately looking to find subsectors/horizonals that an investor can search within for investment opportunities, narrowing down a large sector.

TIA
