Hiring Power of Partners at MBB

If one has a direct relationship with a partner at MBB, does that usually mean he can immediately pass the resume screen to the 1st round interview or can he possibly be hired directly? This is for SA.

I realize this is a case by case scenario, just trying to understand the hiring power of the partners.

Obviously partners have great influence. They are certainly able to flag applications (but so can any employee) which aids getting to 1st round interviews, and in hiring decisions their interviews will often have an implicit additional weight. That said, most won't jeopardise their impartiality by doing any more than the above when it comes to official programmes (internships, grad schemes). They can and do offer one off opportunities for shadowing, unpaid work etc.
