How to select location preferences for McKinsey, BCG and Bain

How should I go about picking office locations? Please help! A little bit about me: - I'm a senior in the US at an ivy league target school - I have a background in biotech and would like to be staffed on projects in industries like healthcare systems, PE and tech in the future - I know that even though they say location doesn't matter in terms of getting selected, I wanna apply to a slightly less competitive office; I'm very close to New York, but I'm scared to apply there because competition is fierce and I think NJ office has pretty much the same things; similarly, I'm also scared to apply to Boston since they have smaller offices and high competition. What are some offices where competition might be lower than in New York or Boston? - I'm thinking of applying to the following offices: - For McKinsey and BCG: New Jersey, Toronto, Philadelphia. - For Bain: New York, Toronto, Boston - In addition, I don't know anything about offices on the west coast so I haven't considered them yet. I'm very very open to any location in the US or in Canada.

How should I select offices? Are there any stereotypes you know about the offices I mentioned in each of these locations? Many thanks!
