IB FT to Consulting?

Hello all! I know this topic has likely been discussed in past, but wanted to get some updated opinions. My title is a bit misleading, but currently a first year analyst at a BB (GS/MS/JPM) doing IB and considering making a switch to consulting (ideally MBB) or corporate strategy towards the end of my first year. Would love to hear thoughts on making the transition, any tips for recruiting (since I only recruited for IB out of undergrad), thoughts on how possible it is, etc.

Happy to provide more detail on my situation as is helpful, but essentially have just come to the realization that I think I would prefer to move to a more operationally focused role, but maintain potential future optionality, with a key goal of mine being to get a top MBA in a few years.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Can be done and have seen quite a few people do it. Key thing is to emphasize that whilst you like finance, you are interested in the broader strategic approaches consulting takes and the more varied types of project. Remind them your background is advantageous when it comes to having a solid quantitative skill set and attention to details. If you've had client exposure make sure to leverage that. Once you're done thinking about selling points, go practice cases and you should be fine.

Assuming you are in the US, this will likely be the case. Europe is a bit more open to give you some tenure if you already worked 1-2 years elsewhere, even though it is still on a case-by-case basis.
