IT Consulting at Booz?
I was looking at Booz & Company's website and it appears that they have an IT practice. Is this a typical IT Consulting practice (think Accenture) or a more management consulting type unit with a focus on tech strategy (think McK BTO)?
While their website seems really broad in scope, I really doubt they participate in ERP transformation type projects...or am I mistaken here?
Anyone have any information on this? I am thinking of applying to them so would appreciate any info.
I chatted with one of their staffs at a school event. She said that part of their IT practice include computer network security consulting, security software development, cryptology, and computer intelligence work for the federal government.
If you can get into one of the federal roles that require you to get a Top Secret clearance, take that shit and run with it. I know Deloitte has roles that require it so I would imagine that Booz does as well. That could help you reap MAJOR dividends down the road.
Thanks for that. But are you sure you are not referring to Booz Allen Hamilton? I was asking about Booz & Company.
Booz Allen Hamilton is nothing special... similar level as Big 4 Advisory/Consulting
Booz & Co. is much better
I am pretty sure that BAH provides better IT Consulting. One of Booz's biggest loses when separating from BAH was the loss of their strong IT branch - a good cash cow btw for the company - which mostly remained with BAH.
except BAH is all in the public sector
Booz & Co is on the commercial side, so I can see why they are building their IT side
BAH is a very large scale IT consulting shop such Accenture, IBM GBS and Deloitte.
Would Booz & Co really want to go down the path of building an IT shop of that nature? My 2 cents is probably that it will be something along the lines of a McKinsey BTO
Astronomer has it right - BAH has a massively deep bench for implementation-based IT "consulting", however I hate to use the word "consulting" for what BAH, Accenture, IBM, etc does - they're staff augmentation shops who have seen/done it before.
Booz & Co. has a very strong, competitive IT strategy division; they're two different animals entirely. Booz & Co. will give you access to cross-industry IT strategy whereas BAH is about asses-in-seats (i.e., you'll be hosting and developing sharepoint for the DOE, for instance).
