Missed call from MBB Managing Director: did I get the job?

Long story short:

-Just finished final rounds at MBB (5 interviews today) -Phone died at most inopportune time -Got an email from Recruiter saying she and Managing Director of the entire region could not get through to me. They will call after the weekend.

This means I got the job, right? The head of the entire fn region doesn't call to say I didn't get the job, right?

Think he'll take it away since I wasn't available?

Happy Thanksgiving my fellow Americans! What are you grateful for today?

You got the job. Congrats.

whew. well, i feel like i got it! i think i nailed my cases and fit interviews today. and you guys are confirming my hunch. where i'm at, the weekend has begun and i won't hear back until sunday! crossing my fingers! thanks monkeys.

If it were a rejection, I suspect they would have left a message instead of waiting to speak with you in person. Congrats.

If it were a rejection they definitely would have left you a voicemail. Offers are always delivered live on the phone. I'd be feeling pretty good if I were you - enjoy your Thanksgiving.

I've had a firm call me to leave me an offer on voicemail before... but I guess it's not all that common.

Okay I take back my troll comment/

I've had both offers and rejections in vmails, I don't know how common it is though. I'm pretty sure you got the job...HR people were probably just careful about what they said cause MD wanted to deliver news himself (probably to make it more likely you accept/he liked you)

Actually, MBB wouldn't reject you over voicemail either. I'm assuming you weren't interviewed by head of region, so congrats you're in.

The only way an MD would call to give a rejection is if: 1) It's for summer, it was close, and they're trying to keep in touch for full time. 2) The MD interviewed you

I got rejected from one of MBB via voicemail. You bring up a good point about the MD, but I think timing is also a huge factor. I got the voicemail 3 days after final rounds. Not that I had much hope left at that point.

The MD "interviewed" me last... it was a quick chat where he was very friendly and wanted to know why I want to be a consultant. This was not part of the schedule given to me at the beginning of the day. In fact, I had two extra fit interviews that were not on the schedule. One was with a partner in the local language here (I did well, the MD told me the partner was impressed), and lasted maybe 20 minutes. Then the recruiter came in and said, "Well, wait! We've set up yet another interview for you! It's with the Managing Director. He'll be in shortly."

I mean Jesus I am geeking out like a vampire in a blood bank -- I'm pretty sure I got it, and all I wanted you guys to say was "YES YOU GO IT" haha and now you guys are casting doubt and raining on my parade.

This thread is so stupid, sorry guys. My bad. Nobody knows! Nobody can know!

It's an offer. Getting called back on the same day either means 1) you bombed it so badly they rejected you outright, or 2) you're an automatic hire. The fact that they had an MD come meet you right afterwards means that you did alright (no reason to waste billable hours on an outright reject), and most importantly, that same MD called you. Same thing happened for my summer - got called an hour after the interview on the way to the airport by the last MD who interviewed me. Congrats man - celebrate!

interviewed at MBB - had the very scenario you describe, MD called me same day but it was to tell me that i didnt get it and where I could improve. this is likely wahts happening if they didnt leave a message telling u u got the offer

I second the previous post, the guy has a message but you can't tell now whether it's positive or negative. From my experience it's likely an offer (the very senior guys prefer to call to hire folks) but I wouldn't party like crazy now and tell everyone, just to find out next week you were dinged.
