SAT and GPA for internships
I know that consulting firms tend to ask for SAT/ACT scores along with GPA, transcript, etc...How much can a very high SAT score (2400) offset a (somewhat) lower GPA (3.67-3.73 range) when it comes to getting junior summer internships? This is assuming a hard course load (advanced econ and math classes, prospective double major) and also varsity athlete at a top LAC (Williams, Amherst, Pomona, Bowdoin, Middlebury, Swarthmore, etc).
*first time post from a lurker who is very thankful for all the advice given on the site!
Also interested. Also how much do consulting firms care about EC's (a cappella, jazz band, improv, etc)?
I don't think they care about arts groups in themselves, but if you can tell a compelling story about how you were able to develop leadership skills in those groups, it can be a real strength on your resume.
Sounds like you're in a fine boat. Don't stress, just apply and be sure to craft a great cover/letter story. Your stats are fine given everything else, so it's okay. Junior into senior summer is the highly competitive SA positions that yield FT offers, so it's tough, but position yourself well and hopefully you'll be okay.
How different are the expectations of litigation/economic consulting firms?
