Statistical Consulting

Does anyone have any information regarding to a career in statistical consulting?

  • What firms have these ‘specialized’ groups (e.g. McKinsey has a ‘Marketing Analytics’ and ‘Risk Management’ consulting groups that seem to be in line with what I’m looking for)? Is it that the big consulting firms (MBB/Deloitte/Booze etc) have such subdivisions, or more that there are firms entirely dedicated to this space (e.g. NERA/CRA + other economic consulting firms)
  • What kind of background would you need? I am assuming the standard MBA => Post-MBA consultant would not be applicable here, given the technicality of the job required (programming, advanced statistical analysis etc.).
  • Compensation? Comparable to other consulting jobs? Or higher?

To give a little background I have a Masters in Financial Engineering and I am looking to make a move into consulting.

Thanks!

Don't know much about statistical consulting. managementconsulted.com is a pretty good website for consulting information but I'm not sure how much they have on statistical.
