SWE -> Management Consulting

There are usually posts about the reverse, but I'm wondering if anyone has seen success in pivoting from product engineering at tech companies to being an MBB consultant? I am currently a sophomore CS major at an Ivy. I interned at a FAANG company in my freshman summer; am currently interning at a unicorn startup, will be joining another popular startup for this summer. Previously, I was focused solely on getting as much engineering experience as possible at high-profile tech companies in hopes of one day creating my own startup, but through my experiences so far, I became more interested in the high-level business problems that technology solves, and I think MBB, rather than engineering, better suits my long term career goals. How would I position myself for Summer 2024 MBB recruiting? Also, if I continued exploring the tech world for my junior summer and waited until new grad recruiting to break into MBB, would it be more difficult to land a spot? Any advice is appreciated.

Yes. Every MBB at my school were either engineers or finance bros which was an interesting mix. MBB are very background agnostic you just need to show that you are good at what you are doing. If what you said about your background is true you have no issues getting interviews. Grind cases and good luck
