Timing of Application
Following my earlier post about prospects for entering MBB with PhD in mathematics and over 10 years work experience in industry: I am assuming that I would not be directly competing with recent graduates, as I would be considered for a somewhat different spot.
Would it then make sense to wait till the hectic activity of the current hiring season subsides, when hiring managers will have more attention to my profile, or is it actually better to "ride the wave" of the cycle and apply immediately?
Thanks!
I don't quite understand what you're driving at. While I am no expert at consulting, this definitely holds true (and to large extents, apply for consulting as well) for banking.
If you refer to the "current hiring season" as graduate recruitment for undergrads/MBA's, it doesn't matter as you are clearly not applying for an analyst/associate position.
I reckon, for someone your experience, opportunities will arise on an ad hoc basis (although if there ever was a "hiring season" at your level, late January would probably be that time considering most who up sticks do so only after collecting their bonuses). Moreover, graduate recruiters differ from recruiters who handle experienced hires anyway.
