Travel Sickness as a Management Consultant
Ok so this could be the most stupid question ever, but I'm curious and I've not seen anything about it on the internet. Is there anyone who is a management consultant here who suffers from or has a colleague who suffers from travel sickness, and how do you/they deal with it if so? Since its quite a common issue I would have thought that maybe some people just decided to go into consulting regardless of their travel sickness. I know theres tablets and things you can use but I've never had to use them so I wonder how effective they are. The reason I ask is because I have very mild travel sickness yet I'm considering MC as a career path since I enjoy long journeys anyways. I'm totally fine in a plane or a car for long journeys, but the problem for me is when I'm in a car and I'm looking down at something else, for example reading a book. From what I understand you might have to do quite a bit of work whilst you're travelling in a cab, so I'm worried this might be a problem for me. With that said I've done work on my laptop in a car whilst on a long car journey and haven't actually had any problems, so maybe it just depends on what I'm doing. I guess when I'm holding a book it makes it worse since my arms will also be moving around a lot, where as a laptop is on your lap and doesn't move much. Still, though, I want to prepare myself.
To be brutally honest, if you're not comfortable spending ~10 hours per week in a combination of airplanes, ubers and/or trains, and working the vast majority of the time while in transit, I would urge you to think twice about whether a traditional MC role is right for you

I have colleagues who have mild to more pronounced travel sickness and they have been doing fine. Some situations are slightly tricky (e.g. rough road, shaky train) but it was fine for them to take a break - if they even were typing anyway.
You can also ask for more local projects, which can be an option.

Its cool if you dont want to tell me I just wanted to get an idea since the other guys seem to be advising against me working with travel sicknes. Idk if it would b different comparing MBB to somewhere like PwC in this situation
