Unorthodox experienced hire path - Jr Consultant Application for McK

Looking for perspectives from anyone with similar experience or who has come across candidates from non-traditional paths.

Context:
• Sr Manager, Strategist at a top global business-advisory-modeled adv/marketing firm, constant high performance (SEA)
• 5yrs of strategy & advisory experience (in my industry), work day to day w/ C-suite clients across many industries
• Engineering graduate from a target university in SEA region
Applying to McKinsey Jr Associate (experienced hire, same region), with referral from EM.

Questions:
• What was your experience during the application and case process?
• What should I expect during recruitment/firm expectations from experienced but non-traditional background?
• Any caveats I should prepare for?

Doing all the prepwork and all but would like to hear some insights from everyone.

Thanks!
