Best Current FDP's/FDLP's?
I've seen these discussions a few times on here, but most are 6-10 years old and the programs mentioned have changed quite a bit. I've been wondering what programs were considered "top notch" lately, in terms of upwards mobility, recognition, and salary?
I've heard a pretty mixed bag regarding JD/Caterpillar/Cargill programs but I don't hear much about programs outside of those three.
This is going to depend on what your goals and criteria are. Unlike other fields such as Banking or Consulting that have pretty well-defined "tiers" of firms (GS/MS/JPM and MBB) with regards to dealflow, clientele, mandate size, etc. the "best" FLDPs are going to come down to which criteria you want to use.
What industries/locations are you interested in? That might be a good place to start.

As far as I know, salaries for these programs are pretty set-in-stone, especially if they are established. I don't know where MSF sits between an undergrad degree and an MBA.
Microsoft has a great FLDP program that lasts two years. When you graduate from it, you exit as a Finance Manager with a low six-figure figure salary. Amazon has a pretty established FLDP as well, but I personally prefer MSFT. Johnson and Johnson, etc. etc.
I would advise you to look at the F500 and make a list of companies that you are interested in and research their corporate finance programs, if they have one.
GE's FMP was the first rotational program created around 100 years ago. Every other finance rotational program is modeled off of GE. Abbvie has a pretty good one with ~73kish starting salary if you're interested in the Healthcare space. UTC and Raytheon have solid programs too, not sure how they're going to recruit for next year's class with their merger.
Thats great comp for Abbvie. What industries do you think pay best for FLDPs?
I'm not sure on that question. I think a better way to look at it is by company. Companies that really drive low cost to customers will tend to pay employees less. I know that tech pays quite well but I'm not sure how it compares when considering CoL. I know GE's FMP first year comp is ~73-76k including sign on bonus.
A friend at Raytheon says their first year pay is low-mid 60s.

I would say look at the companies and/or industries that are growing the most and go from there.
Tech and Healthcare are the obvious candidates (IMO) and I think Energy wouldn't be too far behind. Probably Financial Services as well.
I've heard Manufacturing doesn't pay that great but the more offers you have, the more leverage you have to negotiate salary
+1 On UTC having a solid program. I have met a few folks that have gone through that program - very sharp people that know their stuff
FMAP at Bank of America, the members hold a pretty good reputation from senior folks on the corporate side
Do you have any more info on it such as comp upon graduation?
GM and Ford have good FLDPs and are in a low COL area. Though I imagine the current pandemic will make their hiring sparse with the huge impact on the auto industry
Are you just asking about undergrad-level FLDPs? or is this inclusive of MBA/graduate-level FLDPs as well?

I don't think the process myself and others highlighted above would differ significantly for the UK. Since most, if not all, undergrad students finish up around the same time most companies have a similar recruitment timeline for LDPs. It's possible that certain industries with higher demand (tech) may start earlier (happens at the graduate level, for sure). The safest way is to look at the recruiting timeline on the websites of your target companies.
Anyone heard anything on Thermo Fisher's FLDP? I got an offer for their Finance summer internship that leads into the FLDP but haven't heard much about it

There are tons of companies out there that recruit MBAs for corporate finance roles, but these were just the ones off the top of my head (that are labeled as "FLDPs"/rotational in nature) having just gone through corporate finance recruiting at a T20 MBA program.
Would be interested to see other MBAs add to the discussion because there isn't really a centralized place for information regarding corporate finance recruiting at the MBA level.
