Big 4 Valuation to Corp Dev vs Corp Strategy - Need to make a decision in 2 days

Hi Everyone,

Newly promoted Manager at a Big 4 Valuation team here. Looking at exit ops. Received an offer in Corporate Strategy (Manager role) and very good comp.

I really want to move to Corp Dev and have a few corp dev interviews which are in the early stages. And now I need to make a decision on the Corporate Strategy offer.

Wondering if I can move from Corporate Strategy to Corp Dev in a year or so? I know most Corp Dev roles hire from IB. Please let me know your thoughts and suggestions. Thank you!!

Maybe others will have different thoughts on this but...

I feel like if you're in valuation right now you have highly transferable skills. I would think that that is a natural jump to CD. I would just be concerned that CS roles are less technical, if at all, and then that transition of CS to CD now has friction that otherwise your VAL to CD path wouldn't. Of course, the offer you have in hand is more valuable than any offer you may get, so I would definitely remember that.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts! I agree - one of my concerns of going into the strategy side is that I won't get the technical skills required for CD. And the fact that I don't have any IB experience is also not in my favor.

I was also reading these threads on WSO and I am seeing conflicting thoughts on CD.

Definitely a big decision for me!
