Corporate Finance Rotational Program

I'm looking into corporate finance, and am rather new to this. When do firms usually recruit? I have been applying to some through their career websites.

Also, I have IB background in a boutique, would this help my chances? thanks

Depends on the corporation. Many of the top names start recruiting around the same time as IBD (Aug/Sept). Others recruit in both fall and spring or just spring.

As for the IB background, it could help, but you need to be able to parlay skills and experience from IB into corp fin. Talk about teamwork & project management, deadlines, managing a variety of tasks/assignments, and utilizing your understanding of valuation, cost of capital, and investment evaluation.

Awesome! Thanks for the feedback. I'm actually looking into Disney's program, they have a year round program. Do you have any thoughts on how difficult it might be for someone who goes to a non-traditional target? Do these firms place more emphasis on cover letter or resume?

Hi Guys

As a follow up question, I will be starting the MSF program at Vanderbilt this summer. I am an international student and will be requiring a work visa to work in the US. I noticed that a lot of FLDP programs at F500 firms clearly require the candidate to have a permanent work visa.

Do F500 firms in general not sponsor visas for financial roles or is this only applicable to their rotational/leadership programs?

It depends. Everyone hates that answer, but no F500 company recruits the same and no FLDP program is the same exactly.

I've heard of a few that do sponsor and plenty of the larger companies sponsor if you make enough of an impression.

I'm not sure about FLDP's, but my company/division definitely has entry level full time hires that we sponsored Visa's for. Additionally, many F500's are very international companies, so looking into entry-level roles in your home country may be an option as well.
