From 10 rejections to 1 dream investment banking internship
“... I believe it was the single biggest reason why I ended up with an offer...”
On average - audit in summer will be pretty boring.
I fixed that for you.
^^
What they said. I've been in Big 4 audit a while, and would trade the name to go work at Uncle Tony's Boiler Room. I do admire the drive to challenge yourself and blaze your own trail, for that reason alone I think you're better served in finance.
Energy trading -> looks good for future finance ops, whether in trading, energy hedging, and probably corpfin since you'll have some of that during the internship.
Audit-> leads to audit.
Energy trading really leaves your options open, plus it can be a ton of fun. Those seats can be pretty hard to come by, and if you can get into one now, you'll be well served in the future if you're looking to do the same at a bigger firm, or even do energy banking, etc.
Thanks for the input. Any idea if I should concentrate in accounting or finance with my double major(economics)? I know finance would complement it better but isn't there a good portion in corporate finance jobs accounting-heavy?
Probably, but not as much as audit. I would go for cf.
