GE Capital Corp Finance Growth and Exit Opportunities

Hello to all,

I've been a lurker for a while and now doing my 2nd post :)

I'm an experienced candidate for this position and I wanted to know the growth and exit opportunities for this type of role. I just want to be sure there is some upside in terms of moving laterally to another firm or even moving up the ladder in a reasonable amount of time. And would a company like this offer tuition assistance for B-school?

Job responsibilities involve assisting underwriters and originators. This is based in Canada.

My quals are CA big 4 firm for the last 4 years + CFA L1.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

JR

GE Capital corp fin??? Isn't GE Capital closer to PE or VC (though less so VC)? So if you're doing corp fin, then that's exactly what it is... you probably wouldn't get experience doing deals. From what I've read, a lot of the guys there came from PE. Also, I realize it's a BIG arm of GE with a large scope, so who knows.

And for tuition, it's GE, so I'm sure they offer something... but once again, just an assumption.

I'll do what I can to help ya'll. But, the game's out there, and it's play or get played.

GE most likely would not offer assistance for b-school, but would pay for your CFA exam fees...They love to train people internally...

Assuming this corporate finance group is the corporate lending group (CLG), this is a very highly regarded department within GE Capital. Mostly asset-backed, cash flow, and acquisition financing...maybe 10 deals per year in Canada.

My buddy is a GE Cap... They offered to pay for a part-time MBA from a top 10-15 school (Completely)... He negotiated it when he joined. Was a BB IB analyst.

I've heard that that "sometimes" is very rare, at least in the US.
