Help with Exit Opps from Corporate Finance

So I am currently in a FLDP as a Corporate Finance Analyst for US Bancorp. Failed recruiting into IB and ended up taking this role.

2.5 years with 3 different rotations. I got placed within Accounting and SEC Reporting for my first 10 months which started in June. Other rotations will be treasury roles of my choosing.

I am looking to get into a business line or something more market/client focused. (Ex: Private Banking, IB, Corporate Banking etc).

I am trying to decide on whether I should continue with this program and try and internally get into one of USB business lines, or exit as early as I can with any other job I can get that is a business line. I do not want to do corp fin at all, but just looking for general tips on how to get into a business line as someone who already graduated college. Will this experience even help? or will I have to get an MBA to transition. I would appreciate any advice

Hey there! Based on the most helpful WSO content, it seems like you're in a bit of a pickle, but don't worry, I've got some insights for you.

Firstly, your experience in a FLDP (Financial Leadership Development Program) is valuable. It provides a broad understanding of the financial aspects of a company, which can be beneficial in many roles.

Now, if you're looking to transition into a business line or something more market/client-focused, internal mobility could be a good option. Many companies value internal candidates who already understand the company culture and operations.

However, if you're finding it hard to make that internal move, you might want to consider gaining additional qualifications or skills that are relevant to the roles you're interested in. This could be through additional training, certifications, or even an MBA.

Remember, it's not just about the hard skills. Networking can play a crucial role in transitioning to a new role or field. Start building relationships with people in the areas you're interested in. This could be through internal networking events, industry conferences, or even LinkedIn.

Lastly, don't discount the value of your current experience. Even if corporate finance isn't your end goal, the skills and knowledge you're gaining can be very transferable.

Keep your chin up! Remember, every step you take is a step forward in your career journey.
